For Railways, it was a game to forget, first their bowlers conceded over 600 runs in two days with Mandeep Singh scoring a brilliant 109 to set up the platform for Gurkeerat Singh to notch up the first double hundred of the Ranji Trophy 2015-16. It was a serious spell of fast bowling of Brainder Sran with figures of 6 for 61. After enforcing the follow-on, Punjab never let slip of the game and ensured that they won the game despite a good fighting knock from Arindam Gosh who struck a gritty unbeaten knock of 98 but he could not save his team from the heavy defeat as Varun Khanna ran through the Railways line-up to set up a huge victory for the home side and earn valuable seven points to start their season well.
