A brilliant bowling performance by Haryana leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal helped his side bundle heavy-weights Hyderabad for a below par score of 191 in the Round 2 match of Ranji Trophy 2016-17. It was the Day One of the match as Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bat first. But the team’s batsmen failed to do justice to captain Subramaniam Badrinath’s decision as they kept on throwing away their wickets to Haryana bowlers. While Harshal Patel provided the team with their first breakthrough, it was Chahal who ran through the Hyderabad middle-order and ended their run quest for a below the par total of 191 at the Keenan Stadium, Jamshedpur. The Hyderabad top-order failed to perform as both openers Akshath Reddy and Tanmay Agarwal both departed within the first 10 overs of the innings. The only to batsmen who managed to put up some decent scores on board were B Sandeep and Sumanth Kolla. The two batsmen built up a partnership of 144 runs and contributed majorly towards the team’s score. For Haryana, apart from Chahal, SM Pahal picked up a couple of wickets while Harshal Patel got a solitary wicket.
