Goa got a strong start against Services on Day One of their Round 3 match of Ranji Trophy 2016-17 as they put up 333 runs with the loss of 2 wickets at stumps. Two centuries came from the Goa batsmen which gave them a huge boost of runs and took the team’s score to a big one on the first day itself and the team has a lot more batting left. The skipper, Sagun Kamat, led from the front remaining unbeaten at 177 at stumps while another crucial contribution came from opener Sumiran Amonkar who scored 101 before departing. Services, who won the toss, put Goa to field at the Dhaneswar Rath Institute of Engineering and Management Sciences Ground, Cuttack. Services got their first breakthrough in the first over itself as Diwesh Gurdev Pathania dismissed opener Swapnil Asnodkar for a golden duck. Next in was Kamat, who, aware of the situation, took up the responsibility and built the most crucial partnership with Amonkar.

Services bowlers remained wicketless for a long time since then as the two batsmen gradually brought up team’s 100 and then 200. It was again Pathania who got the next wicket as he dismissed Amonkar lbw. Amonkar departed scoring 101 while Kamat continued batting with Snehal Kauthankar. As the day’s play ended, Kamat remained unbeaten at 177 and Kauthankar remained unbeaten at 35. Amonkar hit 14 boundaries while Kamat hit 26 in their respective innings.
