Himachal Pradesh bowler Mayank Dagar 4-for and Pankaj Jaswal’s 3-wicket downed Jammu and Kashmir to just 162 runs in their first innings in their Round 5, Ranji Trophy 2016-17 affair on Day One. In reply Himachal were 2-wickets down for 58. After winning the toss J & k elected to bat first and were off to a disastrous start, losing their first wicket in the very second over. The wickets kept tumbling after regular intervals as Dagar and Jaswal continued wrecking havoc. It was only Shubham Khajuriua who provided some resistance from one end. Dagar picked up key wickets in Mithun Manas for 18, Harmeet Singh for 4. Dagar’s fourth and final wicket of the J & K innings in Khajuria, who missed his half-century by 48. Jaswal wickets included the likes of Umar Nissar, skipper Parvez Rasool, Ram Dayal for 4. In reply Himachal Pradesh lost their first wicket for 28 runs in form of Prasant Chopra for 17. After a 20 run stand Ankush Bains went for 6. He was Rohit Sharma’s first wicket in his 3 overs. Himachal were 58 for 2 going into stumps were Paras Dogra unbeaten on 3 and Ankit Kalsi unbeaten on 25 with J & K leading 104 runs.

Jammu & Kashmir are placed sixth in the table of Group c, with 7 points from 4 games. Himchal Pradesh are a point below them with 6 points from 4 games. Haryana are leading the Group C charts with 15 points followed by Andra Pradesh with 9.
