Ranji Trophy 2016-17 Group B second best team Jharkhand opted to field and were apt with their campaign bundling out Saurashtra for 277 and ending their day at 29 for no loss in Round 6. Jharkhand s top scorers were Jaydev Shah and Prerak Mankad, only ones who scored fifties where the latter missed his opportunity to score century by mere 4 runs. Bowler Kushang Patel also put up 30-runs to go past the 250-run mark against top team Jharkhand. However, they were restricted by the strong bowling attack from Ashish Singh and Shahbaz Nadeem who shared seven wickets along with Ajay, Kaushal Singh and Samar Quadri chipping in with apiece. Jharkhand s Anand Singh and Pratyush Singh are going strong with opening stand of 29 runs. The Jharkhand batting unit has more batsmen to chip with the runs in form of Ishan Kishan, Saurabh Tiwary, Nadeem and Ishank Jaggi who can contribute heavily and build good lead. Saurashtra s star bowler Jaydev Unadkat remained wicketless and will be hopeful to get some quick ones early on Day Two. Saurashtra being put to bat first started tumbling as their opening batsmen Sagar Jogiyani and Arpit Vasavada were gone cheaply. Sheldon Jackson, who has scored centuries in First-Class matches, was dismissed for golden duck.

Jaydev and Mankad were the ones who built a healthy partnership of 62 runs to boost the batting unit. After fall of Jaydev, Mankad and Unadkat tried continuing the momentum by building partnership of 42 runs. However, the ninth wicket partnership between Mankad and Patel set the tone of the match leading go past the 250-run mark.

Jharkhand are placed at No. 2 spot in Group B with 19 points while Saurashtra seek slight boost as they lie at the bottom of the table.
