Haryana batsmen batting well against a rampaging Kerala bowling attack to muster their score past 300 run mark on Day 2 of their Round 5 affair of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17. Haryana and Kerala clashed in the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur where the former helped by half-centuries by Rohit Sharma and Sanjay Pahal reached 303 run in their first innings. Starting the day on 228 for 8 Rohit and Pahal added 109 runs for the ninth wicket. Sandeep Warrier continued his good show picking up his fifth wicket in Rohit, who made a 196-ball 92. Kerala in reply responded well with openers Bhavin Thakkar and Vishnu Vinod starting strongly. Vishnu was the first to get to his fifty in a swift manner. Vishu and Thakkar added 72 run stand for the first wicket. Harshal Patel struck first blood picking up the wicket of Vishnu for 58 runs. Soon Rohan Prem joined him in the middle coming in at No.3. Prem pushed the scoring rate much further in accordance with Thakkar. Prem and Thakkar has added 98 runs for the second wicket with the former getting to a well deserved half-century.

Kerala going into stumps were 170 for 1 with Thakkar not-out on 56 and Prem not-out on 51 still trailing Haryana by 133 run.
