Karnataka have ended Day Two of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 Round 6 against Rajasthan at 78 for no loss. Openers Ravikumar Samarth is batting on 46 and KL Rahul is unbeaten on 32. Karnataka have therefore taken a lead of 304 runs. They will look to add a few more runs on Day Three, before declaring. Karnataka captain decided against enforcing the follow-on, despite taking a 226-run first innings lead, after bundling Rajasthan out for just 148 in their first innings. Vinay kumar and Sreenath Aravind picked up four wickets apiece to ensure that Rajasthan do not put a big total. Karnataka resumed Day Two at 345 for 6, but were bowled out for just 374. Mayank Agarwal scored 81 in Karnataka s first innings, which included fifties from Samarth and Rahul as well. Tanveer-ul-Haq was the pick of the bowlers for Rajasthan, finishing with figures of 5 for 82. Rajasthan in reply never got going. Siddharth Dobal top-scored for them with 47. Having scored 76 off 85 balls in the first innings, Rahul’s fluency after his comeback must have impressed chairman of selectors MSK Prasad, who is here to watch the match. That he had also fielded for 54 overs is a testimony that he has recovered well from his hamstring injury that put him out of action after the first Test against New Zealand at Kanpur.

On Day One, Karnataka had won the toss and elected to bat first. Karnataka are currently right on top of the points table in Group B, with three wins and a draw in their four matches. Rajasthan on the other hand have won one, lost one and drawn three in their five matches so far.
