After a decent batting by Punjab on the second day of the match against Railways of Ranji Trophy 2016-17, they collapsed to 215 on day three. The third day of the match began with Punjab at 154 for four with Uday Kaul and Gurkeerat Singh at the crease. Both had already scored fifty but couldn t convert it into hundred on day three as both got out in first six overs of the day. After them, the tail of Punjab couldn t drag the total much as they were all out for 215 and thanks to medium-fast bowler Manjeet Singh from Railways as he scalped four wickets to his name.

Further, Railways had good start in the second innings with both their openers scoring fifty plus. Saurabh Wakaskar got retired hurt after making 56 while Shivakant Shukla continues his good form by remaining unbeaten at crease after making 83. After openers, both Akshat Pandey and Arindam Ghosh departed without scoring but Railways ensured strong lead of 296 runs over Punjab with their score of 180 for two at the end of third day s play. From Punjab bowling department, seven bowlers bowled on day three but only Vinay Choudhary got wicket in the form of Ghosh.
