The contest between Hyderabad and Haryana at Jamshedpur s Keenan Stadium went to Haryana s favour on Day Three, Round 2 of Ranji Trophy 2016-17. After winning the toss, Hyderabad captain Subramanian Badrinath chose to bat first, looking to put a big total on the scoreboard. All the same, the decision backfired as they could post as many as 191 runs, thanks to B Sandeep and Sumanth Kolla s fighting knocks. Meanwhile, it was Haryana leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal who picked up 6 for 44, catching the opposition in trance. The opening duo of NR Saini and SG Rohilla scored a half-century apiece and laid a solid foundation for the middle-order. Saini scored 61 off 158 inclusive of 6 fours, while Rohilla churned out 60 off 136 including 10 fours. Amidst all the rock-solid batsmanship, CK Bishnoi continued the momentum and added another 73 to the scorecard, taking the team to 331 for all-out. With a lead of 140, Haryana were expected to obliterate the struggling Hyderabad side. On Day Three, Chahal continued his stellar and picked crucial wickets of B Anirudh and Sandeep, reducing them to 102 for 5.
