Uttar Pradesh were bundled out for 241 on Day 3 of Round 4 of Ranji Trophy 2016-17 on Saturday. Helping Gujarat were Hardik Patel and Rush Kalaria who combined together to grab seven wickets in the Group A match held at Delhi. Gujarat began their second innings and reached 187 for 5 and added 106 runs lead with the help of their first innings. Uttar Pradesh began their innings at 147 for 4 and lost early wickets of Eklavya Dwivedi and Mohammad Saif. The latter stayed longer on the crease as he faced 77 deliveries to score just 4 runs. If there was anyone who built the partnership for Uttar Pradesh was Kuldeep Yadav s 25 and Imtiaz Ahmed s 25 putting up combined 50-run stand for the eighth wicket. That eventually helped Uttar Pradesh reach 241. Gujarat, however, equally gave a strong comeback as they put up 86-run stand for the third wicket with the help of Samit Gohel and Priyank Panchal s scores of 50 and 35 respectively. But Gujarat were also fumbling as they lost wickets at regular intervals with Kuldeep Yadav claiming 3 for 69.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh were trailing by exactly 200 runs, and they will need the rest of their batsmen to bat big and long in order to get close to the total with Gujarat have posted. Saif was batting on 4 not out and Dwivedi was on 20 not out off 41 balls after Uttar Pradesh made a strong start to their reply. In the first innings, Gujarat scored a formidable 347 in 110.2 overs. Three of the Gujarat batsmen Gohel, Panchal and wicketkeeper-captain Patel registered identical scores of 60. Gandhi deserved a century, but he was dismissed for a fine 87, which came off 152 balls with the help of 13 boundaries and 2 sixes.
