Railways who were playing at 76 for 3 were bundled out for 160 and also began their second innings, playing at 135 for 4 on Day Two of Round 5, Ranji Trophy 2016-17 on Monday. Vijay Gohil from Mumbai shone for his side with a fifer while Shardul Thakur, Balwinder Sandhu ended with two wickets while Tushar Deshpande took apiece to bundle out Railways. Karn Sharma was the only highest-scorer for the side while Ashish Singh also contributed with the bat as he ended with the score of 22. On Day Two, Mumbai, resuming at an overnight 244 for 5, went on to score 345 courtesy Yadav, who started the day on 60. Captain and leg-spinner Karn Sharma led from the front for Railways, adding two wickets to his overnight tally to complete a five-wicket haul. Railways felt the heat in their first innings. They lost their three top-order batsmen to end the day at 76 for three in 45 overs. The star of the day was Yadav, who collected 11 fours and a six in his 270-ball effort.

Mumbai ruled Day One, as opening batsman Herwadkar had missed out on a century by four runs. Before this game, Mumbai had 12 points from three games, with a win and three draws so far. Railways on the other had lie at the bottom of Group A with one draw and three losses from their four matches so far.
