The contest between Rajasthan and Odisha of the Round 5 of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 ended in a draw after Rajasthan failed to bowl out Odisha after enforcing a follow on. SF Khan was adjudged as Man of the Match as he scored a century for Rajasthan in the first innings 110 from 203 which helped his team post 323 in the first innings. Odisha had a poor time with the bat in their first innings as their whole side was bundled out for just 172. Pankaj Singh and Aniket Choudhary both picked up 4 wickets each. Choudhary finished with 4 for 46 while Singh finished with 4 for 61. Deepak Behera was the top scorer for Odisha in the first innings as he scored 67. Rajasthan enforced a follow-on to Odisha in the second innings with hopes that their bowlers would repeat the same performance, but Odisha batsmen came very hard with their bat in the second innings as three of their batsmen scored their centuries to take their team to a Score of 508 for the loss off six wickets. Opener Ranjit Singh scored 116 from 289 balls, Shubranshu Senapati who walked in at No. 4 scored 137 from 254 balls and Abhishek Yadav who walked in at No. 7 scored an unbeaten knock of 115 from 157 balls to avoid a defeat which looked very much on cards. Team Rajasthan used 10 bowlers in their second innings to try bowling Odisha out and win this match, but the sturdy batting from them saved the game in a very beautiful manner.
