Railways are just 23 runs away from a win against Baroda at the end of Day Three in Ranji Trophy 2016-17 Round 6 at Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground, Nagpur. Railways were set a target of 113 in the fourth innings. They lost Saurabh Wakaskar for 45 and then Ashish Singh was dismissed off the final ball of the day. Both wickets were picked up by left-arm orthodox bowler Swapnil Singh. The final day of the match will be a mere formality as Baroda will find it impossible to restrict Railways although they can put up a good fight. Railways on the other hand will look to end the match as early as possible. FULL Cricket Updates: Ranji Trophy 2016-17, Day 3, Round 6

Baroda resumed the day with their score at 27 for no loss. They were eventually bowled out for 239. However, in the first innings, Baroda put on a very low total on the board and were playing catch up throughout the match. Opener Kedar Devdhar scored 45 and Dhiren Mistry scored 50 to take Baroda to 183. Left-arm spinner Avinash Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for Railways, finishing with five wickets, to go with his three wickets in the second innings. Railways scored 310 in their first innings, taking a 127-run lead. Baroda failed to stitch any big partnership in their second innings and as a result, could not post a big target for Railways to chase down.

If Railways knock of these runs, which they should, they would have registered their first win of the tournament. Out of their five games before this, they have already lost four. Baroda too are yet to register a win. In this match, it was Baroda, who won the toss and elected to bat first.
