After posting mammoth total and bundling out Tripura for 315, Andhra won the match by an innings and 38 runs in Round 6 of Ranji Trophy 2016-17. Tripura had lost three wickets when they began their Day 4 with score of 165. Tripura had lost Smit Patel, Bishal Ghosh and Nirupan Sen Chowdhary on Day 3 and then entered Yashpal Singh along with Abhijit Dey, who started their innings playing at 46 and 31 respectively. They put up the highest partnership of 95 runs for fourth wicket. However, they were unable to build on the impetus to go past the 100-run mark. But it was Andhra all the way as Tripura were shackled by the perfect length bowling from Andhra with Paidikalva Vijaykumar and Bhargav Bhatt sharing eight wickets to bring down Tripura. However, it was KV Sasikanth who took two early wickets on Day Three, who provided flying start to Andhra. During Andhra s first innings, Prasanth Kumar scored century, but Hanuma Vihari was the star of the show with his unbeaten double century. Ricky Bhui also added his half-century to build total of 524 on board. It was just Gurinder Singh of Tripura who bagged four wickets along with Manisankar Murasingh s two wickets respectively.

The highest partnership in this match has been between Prasanth and Vihari of 240 runs for the second wicket. It was later between Vihari and Bhui, who built 100 runs for third wicket and added the much needed 500 runs on board. Andhra won the toss and were spot on as they bowled out Andhra for 171 with Vijaykumar and Cheepurapalli Stephen bagging four and three wickets respectively. Ghosh and Patel from Tripura were the only highest run-scorer in first innings.

With this victory, Andhra has seven points under their belt and are sitting at the top of Group C table with 22 points while Tripura are still at No. 4 with 12 points, winning two matches and two matches ending in draw.
