Goa who started the innings cheaply on Day 1 faced defeat by Hyderabad by margin of nine wickets on Day 4 of Ranji Trophy 2016-17. Hyderabad were set target of 35 runs to win and comfortably achieved the target with a loss of a wicket. Most of the runs came from Tanmay Agarwal that consisted of 5 fours and a six. Akshath Reddy and Balchander Anirudh had hardly any task on hand with their single digit scores. Saurabh Bandekar got a wicket but were unable to restrict Hyderabad further with just few runs to win. Goa had a splendid second innings with score of 258 with Sagun Kamat and Saurabh s half-centuries. Ravi Kiran of Goa was the only highest wicket-taker with three wickets. Hyderabad, however, had an excellent first innings with total of 388 on board with some centuries from Akshath Reddy, Bavanaka Sandeep and Mehdi Hassan s half-century. RP Singh got two wickets for Goa in the first innings while Amit Yadav got three. But it was Mohammed Siraj who got four wickets from Hyderabad in the first innings to bowl out Goa for 164. Goa s only highest-scorer was Saurabh once again with his half-century. With this Hyderabad receive six points in the this tournament.
