After taking a strong lead of 122 runs, Vidarbha couldn’t do the same against Odisha on day four of Ranji Trophy 2016-17 what they did in the first innings of the match as the end result of the match was draw. Day four of this match began with Odisha’s batting with 74 for no loss. They managed to put up an impressive bating in the last day of the match, which was led by Captain Govinda Poddar’s half-century. This match surely ended in draw but Vidarbha gets three out of four points for taking lead while Odisha got only one point. This match began with Odisha winning the toss and elected to bat first. In the second innings, Odisha skipper Poddar played gritty knock of 58 runs, which included six boundaries and a six. This was his 13th first-class half century, before being dismissed by Lalit Yadav  at the score of 156. In the second session, Odisha batting line-up collapsed and lost three wickets of Subhranshu Senapati, Haladhar Das and Biplab Samantray under seven runs.  All those three wickets were scalped by Akshay Wakhare but Deepak Behera stood with a defiant unbeaten 31 forcing the match to draw. Behera also impressed with his bowling earlier in the match during Vidarbha’s batting by taking three wickets by conceding 35 runs from 16 overs with six maidends. ODisha declared their second innings at the score of 274 for nine with the lead of 152 as the match ended in a draw.
