Bengal eased to victory by margin of 115 runs against Punjab in Round 3 of Ranji Trophy 2016-17. Bengal have also reached the second spot in the points table with earning six points with this victory and already bagging three brownie points earlier. Punjab drops to third place. After winning the toss, Punjab opted to field and Bengal were at the top with opening batsman Sayan Shekhar Mandal securing his century in the first innings and was well deserved Man of the Match. In the second innings it was Manoj Tiwary with his score of 92 to keep Bengal ahead in the match. Yuvraj Singh s Punjab did fight back with Sandeep Sharma bagging four wickets in the first innings while Vinay Choudhary got three wickets. Siddharth Kaul stood out in the second inning with his six-wicket haul. Bengal s tigers were also equally at the top and kept Punjab on toes as Ashoke Dinda and Amit Kulia got fifer. Pragyan Ojha also was also equally in the race with his four-wicket haul. The captain Yuvraj did not fire in this series as he was dismissed for 26 in the second innings and 22 in the first.

For Punjab it was Uday Kaul and opening batsman Manan Vohra, who were in the race as the highest-scorer for the side. But it was Bengal s all round performance that brought the difference to the side.
