Mumbai will have a chance to win the Ranji Trophy for the 42nd time PTI

Mumbai will lock horns with Gujarat in the final of the 83rd edition of Ranji Trophy, at Indore’s Holkar Stadium. Gujarat have reached the ultimate stage of the tournament for the first time since 1950-51 season, while Mumbai have been title-holders for 41 times in the history of this Indian domestic league. Be it 5-fors, 100s, or triple-hundreds, Ranji Trophy 2016-17 has caught everyone’s attention. The Samit Gohels, the Priyank Panchals, the Prithvi Shaws, the Rishabh Pants: this year’s league saw some Indian cricketers put up a stellar show. The live cricket streaming of this match will be available on Hotstar, while the live telecast will be broadcasted on Star Sports HD 4 and Star Sports 4.

Mumbai have the knack of winning a match on nerves. Despite being down in the quarters, they made a solid comeback and sealed a place in the semi-finals. Then they chased down 251 in the fourth innings on a Day-Five track, thanks to 17-year-old Shaw’s 120. He became only the second youngest centurion for Mumbai, joining the elite list that boasts of the great Sachin Tendulkar. On the other hand, Gujarat will be eyeing to lift the title for the first time. But again, they will be against a team that has a habit of winning even at crucial junctures.

We saw India and New Zealand play a Test at Indore, earlier in the autumn. The track then equally supported the batters and bowlers. Nonetheless, the spinners had a ball catching the batsmen in their web, as Ravichandran Ashwin ended up taking 13 wickets in the match.

Whether Mumbai will continue their winning streak or Gujarat will create history, is a question only time will tell.
