The Ranji Trophy 2016-17 Round 4 game between Punjab and Baroda has so far been high-scoring and Yuvraj Singh added to it, scoring his maiden Ranji Trophy double-hundred. Earlier, Baroda had put up a massive 529 with major contribution from Deepak Hooda who scored an unbeaten 293. Dhiren Mistry scored a good 76 while Swapnil Singh and SS Mangalorkar contributed in the lower-order. However, Punjab pulled off a brilliant job chasing down the big total led perfectly by skipper Yuvraj Singh who contributed majorly towards the team’s score. Chasing the target, opener Jiwanjot Singh got out early with an individual score of 15. At stumps of Day Two, Punjab were at 121 for 1 with Vohra and Uday Kaul batting at the crease. Kaul got dismissed early on and Yuvraj joined Vohra at the crease. The two built up a 481-run partnership for the third wicket before Vohra got out for 224. Yuvraj stayed at the crease and went onto score 270, missing out on his maiden Ranji Trophy tripple-hundred for 30 runs. This is his highest ever score in a Ranji Trophy innings as well, his previous best being a 187 in a game against Gujarat in the last season of the Indian domestic competition.

Gurkeerat Mann played a useful knock of 55 as Punjab ended their inning with 670 runs on the board with a 141-run-lead at hand. Swapnil Singh remained the highest wicket-taker for the innings for Baroda with 4 wickets while Vishnu Solanki bagged 3 wickets.
