Former champions Uttar Pradesh were shot out for 225, while defending champions Mumbai are currently leading by 59 runs, on Day 2 of Round 6 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2016-17 at the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadiyar Ground in Mysore on Monday. For UP, it was Rinku Singh, who scored 70, while Kuldeep Yadav scored 50, as Abhishek Nayar, Vishal Dabholkar and Aditya Dhumal claimed a couple of wickets each. As for Mumbai, they are currently 51 for the loss of a copuple of wickets, with Aditya Dhumal and Shreyas Iyer currently at the crease, while Ankit Rajpoot and Kuldeep Yadav claiming the wickets, as Mumbai lead by 59 runs. A brilliant effort by the bowlers enabled Mumbai take a slender eight-run first innings lead over Uttar Pradesh by bundling them out for 225 on day two of their Ranji Trophy Group A match. In reply to Mumbai’s first innings total of 233, UP resumed the day on 22 for one and started losing wickets at regular interval. Medium pacer Tushar Deshpande took three for 66, while Abhishek Nayar (2/19), Vishal Dabholkar (2/26) and Aditya Dhumal (2/33) chipped in with two scalps each to run through the UP batting line-up. Only Rinku Singh and lower-order batsman Kuldeep Yadav scored a half-century each but could not take the team past Mumbai’s modest first innings total, reports PTI.

Rinku Singh’s 70 came off 148 deliveries that included eight hits to the fence, while Kuldeep Yadav hit a 50 off 104 balls with the help of five fours and a six. Imtiaz Ahmed (19) also played a crucial knock lower down but still failed to acquire a lead for Uttar Pradesh, added PTI.
