In Ranji Trophy 2016-17, Round 7, Day One, Jammu & Kashmir (J & K) ended opening day at 270 for 6 versus Tripura. Tripura won the toss and elected to bowl as their bowlers produced wickets at regular intervals which dented J & K’s progress. A good morning session for both the teams will be vital to take centrestage in the match. J & K’s lower-order will have to contribute to get their side to some sort of total to defend with the red leather. Mura Singh and Rana Datta were the performers for Tripura and will be expected to rap up the opposition’s innings early on Day Two. Full Updates, Ranji Trophy 2016-17, Round 7, Day 1

Having been invited to bat first by Tripura’s skipper, Mura, J & K started off on a rough note with both the openers perishing soon. Shubham Khajuria and Umar Nissar departed soon but Pranav Gupta and Ian Chauhan started J & K’s repair work. The duo struck a 109-run stand as both got fifties to their name. Mura and Rana struck again to send the pair back while J & K’s skipper, Parvez Rasool, could not do much.

Aditya Pratap and Samiullah Beigh added vital runs together to stitch J & K’s comeback as they ended at 270 for 6 at stumps. While Tripura kept pushing J & K on the backfoot, the latter also kept coming back hard but will have more to do on Day Two.
