In Ranji Trophy 2016-17, Round 7, Day One, Hyderabad ended opening day at 267 for 4 versus Chhattisgarh. Bowling first, Chhattisgarh bowlers began well but couldn’t continue in the same rythm. A good morning session for both the teams on day two will be vital to take centrestage in the match. The match is played at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium, Valsad. Hyderabad lost their first wicket in the second over of the game in the form of opener Akshath Reddy. Pankaj Rao did the job of providing initial breakthrough for Chhattisgarh. After losing their first wicket at the score of two, both Tanmay and Badrinath added 120 runs for second wicket partnership. Tanmay got out after 39 from 124 balls, including six boundaries, while Badrinath continued to bat with his new partner Bavanaka Sandeep. The duo added 122 runs for third wicket partnership before Badrinath got out for 134, which included 20 fours and two sixes. Meanwhile, Sandeep’s new partner Benjamin Thomas got out on duck and Hyderabad were four wickets down. Later, at the end of first day’s play, Sandeep remained unbeaten at 73 with Mehdi Hasan at 10. Hyderabad are currently at a good position with two decent batsman at the crease.

From Chhattisgarh bowling department, Abhimanyu Chauhan scalped two wickets, while Kant Singh and Pankaj got one each. Other three bowlers, Abhishek Tamrakar, Sumit Ruikar and Sahil Gupta remained wicketless after first day’s play.
