Haryana are in a comfortable position as they have the edge over opponents Himachal in Round 8 game of Ranji Trophy 2016-17. The match is being played at Sardar Patel Stadium, Valsad. A century from Haryana’s Guntashveer Singh had helped the team end Day Two on a positive note. The middle and lower-order batsmen of the team helped with more runs to get to a big 402 at the end of their first innings. Haryana resumed batting as they had ended day One at 237 for 3. Guntashveer departed in the morning, scoring 120 runs. Rohit Parmod Sharma contributed with a crucial half-century batting at No. 6 while Chaitanya Bishnoi, Rajat Paliwal, Rahul Tewatia and PB Mehta all added some runs to take the score to 402. KD Singh was the highest wicket-taker with his 6 wickets for Himachal. Rishi Dhawan bagged 3 wickets including the one of Guntashveer. In reply, Prashant Chopra and RI Thakur opened batting decently but could not play bigger knocks. Himachal lost their first wicket with 41 runs on the board as RI Thakur departed for 23. Prashant Chopra followed him soon for 33 runs.

Experienced Paras Dogra also faltered, scoring only 23 runs. Robin Bisht remained unbeaten at 12 with Satyakumar Verma at 3 as Himachal ended with 101 for 3 at stumps and will resume batting on Day Three. Mohit Sharma, SM Pahal and PB Mehta all bagged a wicket each for Haryana.
