The Day Two of the matchday one of Group D of the Ranji Trophy 2017-18 was headlined by the one and only young lad of Himachal Pradesh Prashant Chopra, who struck a monumental triple-ton. He scored a mammoth knock of 338 against Punjab at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala on Saturday, while Himachal Pradesh finished on a total of 729 for the loss of eight wickets. Sandeep Sharma of Puynjab claimed four wickets in the innings. As Punjab came out to bat, they were 110 for the loss of a wicket at stumps, Pargat Singh being the only wicket to fall for 64. In the other game, Bengal finished on a total of 552 for the loss of nine wickets, courtesy of Sudip Chatterjee’s 115. Services’s Sachidanand Pandey claimed four wickets in the innings. The Bengal innings received late boost courtesy a whirlwind unbeaten partnership of 77 between Ashok Dinda and Mohammed Shami. Dinda slammed a 25-ball 55 not out, his highest First-Class score. As for the Services batting, they were 103 for the loss of a wicket at stumps, trailing Bengal by 449 runs, at the Palam A Stadium in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Chattisgarh finished on a total of 458, courtesy of Manoj Singh’s 125, while Darshan Wagha Misal claimed a five-wicket haul in the innings.
