Ranji Trophy 2017-18 has reached the knockout stages. After seven exciting rounds, eight teams have made it to the quarter-finals. Before we mention the teams who have made it to the next round, here are the teams to have missed the bus to the next round: Punjab, Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu. On the other hand, last edition’s semi-finalists, Jharkhand, have also been shown the door.

The teams to proceed to quarters are as follows:

Group A – Karnataka, Delhi

Group B – Gujarat, Kerala

Group C – Madhya Pradesh

Group D – Bengal, Vidarbha

The quarter-final lineup:

Karnataka vs Mumbai

Gujarat vs Bengal

Delhi vs Madhya Pradesh

Kerala vs Vidarbha

Venues: Surat, Jaipur, Nagpur, Vijayawada

While Vidarbha and Kerala have been the biggest surprise package of the current edition, it will be interesting to see how they fare against the experienced sides in the knockouts. Mumbai will be without their star players such as Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Shardul Thakur and Shreyas Iyer due to national duties.

On the other hand, it will get tougher for the defending champions Gujarat as they look to replicate their feat from the previous edition.
