Irfan and Yusuf Pathan could not impress in their Round Two performances as Baroda drew their match with Andhra in Ranji Trophy 2017-18. Yusuf, who had scored centuries in the previous match, got out for a 1 and a duck in the two innings of the match, while his all-rounder brother Irfan Pathan could only claim one wicket. It was a disappointing match for Ravichandran Ashwin as well, as the leading Indian Test spinner bagged only 2 wickets as Tamil Nadu drew with Tripura. Ishant Sharma, too, was ordinary after bagging 3 wickets, ending with 4 wickets in total in the match with just a solitary wicket in the final innings of Delhi’s victory.
On a contrary, Bengal pace duo Mohammed Shami and Ashok Dinda dominated the match. Dinda finished with 10 wickets from the match against Chhattisgarh, with 7 wickets from a single innings. Shami bagged 8 wickets from the match, of which 6 came in the fourth innings.
Parthiv Patel, after being dismissed for 3 in the first innings, remained unbeaten at 18 as Gujarat won against Kerala. As for Madhya Pradesh, who lost to Mumbai, their captain Naman Ojha, who had scored 180 in team’s previous innings, was dismissed for 38.
