The second day of round 3 of Ranji Trophy 2017-18 saw a handful of domestic stars plunder runs. Hanuma Vihari scored a triple-ton; Jiwanjot Singh got a double-ton; and Ishank Jaggi, Ricky Bhui, Amandeep Khare and others recorded hundreds. Unfortunately, it was a day of dejection for the big guns. Let us a read how marquee players from Team India fared.

Murali Vijay: India s most consistent opener over the past few years continued to disappoint. He made a lowly 11 against Mumbai.

KL Rahul: To be fair, Rahul played with composure towards the beginning of the second innings. Unfortunately, he did not last, and fell for 23.

Washington Sundar: Sundar, Man of the match in Tamil Nadu s previous outing, starred yet again. His knock of 69 runs kept his side alive and kicking. He added 157 with Baba Indrajith.

Parthiv Patel: Gujarat skipper Parthiv hardly made any contribution despite gaining a start. He fell for a 56-ball 25.

Suresh Raina: Raina got a golden duck against Maharashtra.

Amit Mishra: The Haryana skipper struggled to make any impact against a timid batting line-up. He remained wicket less in 21 overs.

It was a good day for the bowling fraternity as well: Kerala’s Jalaj Saxena picked a 6-fer, Goa s Shadab Jakati and Karnataka’s Shreyas Gopal picked 5 wickets each to down their opponents. Mehdi Hasan, CK Khurana and Akash Vasisht got 4 wickets in respective matches.
