At Amritsar: Services pulled off a thrilling draw against Punjab on Day Four of their Group D tie in Round Seven of the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy at the Gandhi Sports Complex Ground on Tuesday. Being put to bat first, Punjab put up a stellar total of 645 for the loss of six wickets, courtesy Shubman Gill’s 129 and Anmolpreet Singh’s unbeaten 252. In reply, Services could manage 315, courtesy Diwesh Pathania’s 68, while Manpreet Gony claimed five for 63. Having suffered a follow on, Services managed to post a decent total of 458, courtesy skipper Gahlaut Rahul Singh’s 124 and Ravi Chauhan’s 112. In reply, Punjab almost pulled off a win, as they were 64 for no loss, while chasing a target of just above hundred, with just 10 minutes prior to day closure. However, the Services bowlers were smart enough to pause their run scoring spree, as they quickly claimed five wickets for 94, and settled for a thrilling draw. At Kolkata: Bengal swiftly made their way into the quarter-finals after securing a draw against Goa on Day Four of their Group D tie in Round Seven of the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy at the Eden Gardens Stadium on Tuesday. Being put to bat first, Bengal put up a total of 379, courtesy Shreevats Goswami’s 139 and Anustup Majumdar’s 119, while Lakshay Garg claimed four for 89. In reply, Goa could manage 310, as Amogh Sunil Desai’s remained unbeaten on 103, while Ashok Dinda claimed five for 79. The second innings saw another decent innings from the hosts as they scored 334 for the loss of five wickets, courtesy Majumdar and Writtick Chatterjee’s unbeaten 108 and 102, respectively. In reply, Goa were 86 for the loss of a couple of wickets on the final day, as Snehal Suhas Kauthankar scored an unbeaten 53. Majumdar was adjudged the Man of the Match.

At Nagpur: Vidarbha too convincingly made it to the quarter-final after registering a comfortable draw against Himachal Pradesh on Day Four of their Group D tie in Round Seven of the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Ground on Tuesday. Having put o bowl first, HP scored 353, courtesy Akash Vasisht and skipper Sumeet Verma’s 69 and 66, respectively, while Rajneesh Gurbani claimed six for 113. In reply, Vidarbha scored a healthy 456, courtesy skipper Faiz Fazal and Sanjay Ramaswamy’s 206 and 115, respectively, while Rishi Dhawan claimed four for 96. In the second innings, HP were strong with the bat as they scored 323 for the loss of eight wickets, courtesy Nikhil Gangta’s unbeaten 101, while Aditya Sarwate claimed six for 75, as it was enough to secure a draw. Fazal was adjudged the Man of the Match.
