Karnataka walked away with three points thanks a first-innings lead as their Ranji Trophy 2018-19 Elite A Round Three match ended in a tame draw against domestic giants Mumbai at the KSCA ground in Belgaum on Friday.
Resuming their second dig overnight at 81/3, with a healthy lead of 276 runs, Karnataka, who bowled Mumbai out for 205 courtesy Ronit Moreâs second five-wicket haul, declared their innings at 170/5 to set Mumbai a 365-run target. Krishnamurthy Siddharth, Karnatakaâs debutant, who scored 161 in the first dig, top scored with a unbeaten 71, while India veteran Stuart Binny added 30 to the total. Mumbai allrounder Shivam Dubey, who snapped a whopping seven wickets in the first essay, this time returned wicketless.

In reply, Mumbai ended their innings at 173/5 with opener Akhil Herwadkar and Suryakumar Yadav top scoring with 53 runs respectively. Suryakumar, who was unbeaten after facing 118 deliveries, had Aditya Tare (29 off 65) as the duo negated any chances of a further slump after Abhimanyu Mithun accounted for the two openers.
The result leaves Mumbai in sixth spot with four points, while Karnataka occupy the third position with six points in two games.
