Madhya Pradesh took a crucial 22-run lead over Punjab on Thursday on day three of the Round 3 of Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season at the Holkar Stadium, Indore.
Starting the day at 184/2, Madhya Pradesh lost Rajat Patidar early on day three for 73, followed by the wicket of Naman Ojha for 51. Sanvir Singh claimed Ojha while Patidar was sent packing by Abhishek Gupta. Shubham Sharmaâs wicket for 22 by Sanvir had MP reeling at 231/5.
But Yash Dubey stepped up and played with the tail with an unbeaten 65 to hand MP the lead. Dubey was well supported by Saransh Jain and even though MP lost their last three wickets for just 10 runs, Dubey unbeaten knock ensured, MP finished at 315.
In reply, Punjab started strong with Jiwanjot Singh (38) and Abhishek Sharma (78) putting on 104 runs for the opening stand. Sharmaâs 78 came off 61 balls before he fell to Ishwar Pandey six overs before close of play. At stumps, Punjab had reached 127/1 with Anmolpreet Singh unbeaten on 4 and Jiwanjot solid at 38. Punjab lead MP by 105 runs.
