Ranji Trophy 2018-19, Elite C, Round 3, Day 3: Jharkhand face stiff ask against Rajasthan

A battling century from Ashok Menaria  and 82 from Rajesh Bishnoi proved the catalyst for Rajasthan to set hosts Jharkhand a target of 328 to win on day three of their 2018-19 Ranji Trophy Group C match in Ranchi.

At stumps, Jharkhand were 24 without loss, needing a further 309 runs.

After being bowled out for 100 on day one, this marks another commendable turnaround from Rajasthan, who moved from 127/4 to 379 on Thursday with Menaria adding exactly 100 runs to his own score to be ninth out for 125. The former Rajasthan captain’s innings spanned 325 balls and featured 19 fours. Bishnoi, the other senior player after Menaria and Robin Bist, made 82 from 145 balls while adding 138 for the fifth wicket.

Tajinder Singh (36 from 50 balls) and Rahul Chahar (36 from 32) played useful cameos to help get Rajasthan to position from where they can push for a hat-trick of wins.

Anukul Roy, the India Under-19 World Cup-winner this year, took 4/97 for Jharkhand. Varun Aaron had a rare dry day, going wicketless across 26 overs which cost 69 runs.
