Assam reached 190/7 with captain Amit Sinha unbeaten on 51 against Services on the opening day of their Elite C Round 6 Ranji Trophy 2018-19 match at the Airforce Complex ground in Palam on Friday.

Put into bat, Services, just a rung below the opposition on seventh post in the group, were helped to a 40-run opening partnership between Pallav Kumar Das and Rishav Das. The partnership was broken with Sachidanand Pandey removing Pallav Kumar for 29. Sibsankar Roy added 11 before he was dismissed by Diwesh Gurdev Pathania.

Assam failed to register any significant partnerships with wickets falling at regular intervals. After being involved in a 30-run stand with Kunal Saikia, Rishav was cleaned up by Pandey for 25. Saikia too didn t last long and departed for 3 after he was trapped leg before by Pathania.

It took a 59-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Gokul Sharma and Sinha as the duo steadied the innings. Sharma fell short of his half-century by one run after he was trapped leg before to give Khalil Ahmed his first wicket.

Sinha meanwhile went on to register his sixth first-class half-century, his innings laced with seven boundaries. Sinha had Ranjeet Mali for company batting on 1 when stumps were drawn.
