Elite C Day 3 Round 6

Assam began their second essay on a strong note after conceding a the first innings lead but lost three wickets in quick time, fanning Services faint hopes of a win when the play came to an end on Day 3 of their Ranji Trophy 2018-19, Elite C, round 6 tie at the Palam A Stadium in Delhi.

Services took 185-run lead thanks to captain Rajat Paliwal‘s 180 off 373 as they were all out for 396 in their first innings.

Resuming the day on 213/2, Services lost their final eight wickets for the addition of just 183 runs with Jitumoni Kalita taking 3/99 while Ranjit Mali, Mrinmoy Dutta and Mukhtar Hussain picking up two wickets each.

Barring Paliwal and Navneet Singh (79), there was little to no contribution from other Services batsmen. The third best score came from the bat of No. 8 Muzzaffaruddin Khalid who scored 31 off 35 with the help of five fours.

Assam openers Rishav Das (41) and Pallavkumar Das (27) gave a solid start, adding 71 runs before Diwesh Pathania broke them apart.

Pathania first remove Pallwakumar in the 19th over and then Muzzaffaruddin Khalid trapped Jitumoni Kalita for an eight-ball duck. Pathania struck again in his next over when he dismissed Rishav Das with Assam losing three wickets for the addition of just a single to their total.

At stumps, Gokul Sharma (6*) and Sibsankar Roy (4*) had taken their team to 83/3 in 26 overs, trailing by 102 runs.
