Ranji Trophy: Abhishek Raut, Debashish Samantray keep Odisha in command over J&K

Odisha enjoyed two days of good cricket to leave hosts Jammu and Kashmir trailing by 175 runs at stumps on day two of their seventh round Group C Ranji Trophy 2018-19 in Jammu.

Odisha converted a lead of 36 to 196 with Debashish Samantray (85) and Abhishek Raut  (116*) the chief contributors. Anurag Sarangi added one run to his overnight score before he became the first wicket to fall, and from 100/2 the Odisha innings slumped to 115/5 as Irfan Pathan and Umar Nazir made swift inroads.

Samantray and Raut put on on 113 for the sixth wicket and the last four wickets added 94 runs.Only two other players reached double figures. Irfan (4/52) and Nazir (3/49) led J&K’s bowling admirably.

By the close of play, J&K had reached 27 for no loss.
