Rashid Latif lashes out at Virender Sehwag for controversial tweet; gets ‘meaningful silence’ in reply

It all started with a tweet by former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag. On the night of India’s 124-run victory over Pakistan in ICC Champions Trophy 2017, Sehwag, one of the most active cricketers on Twitter, shared a tweet suggeting Pakistan as the ‘beta’ [Son] and Bangladesh as the ‘pota’ [Grandson] of India. Pakistan looked a completely different side against South Africa in their next match, winning by 19 runs while India, in their next, unexpectedly lost to Sri Lanka. After India’s defeat, Rashid Latif made Sehwag’s tweet a point to lash out at the former cricketer. Sehwag later put up a tweet indicating it to Latif, which meant he believed in keeping mum over the matter.

Sehwag had tweeted on June 4, “Pote ke baad Bete. Koi baat nahi Beta, Well tried ! Congratulations Bharat !#BaapBaapHotaHai #INDvPAK”. Here is the Tweet:

Post Pakistan’s victory, Latif replied to it in an interview with Siasi Central, where he went on talking about Sehwag’s birthplace Najafgarh as well as India’s heritages built during Mughal rule. In the 15-minute long video, Latif bashed Sehwag for his Tweet. Here is the video:

India will play South Africa and Pakistan will play Sri Lanka to secure semi-final berths in their virtual knock-out games on Sunday and Monday respectively.
