Ravi Shastri replaced Anil Kumble to become India s head coach in July. Since then, Team India has won two Test series, four ODI series and three T20I series. Sanjay Bangar, India s batting coach has expressed his views on Shastri s coaching. Bangar admitted that Shastri has got positive influence in the Indian side.

Players are willing to take risks

“It (The change) began under Ravi s (Shastri) leadership. His influence on the batsmen s mindsets has been very good. He has taken the fear of failure out of everybody. Players are willing to take risks, to come out of their comfort zone. Players are also taking responsibility, which is a great thing for a team which wants to leave a legacy behind,” said Bangar in an interview with The Hindu.

Shastri was earlier appointed Team Director from 2014 to 2016 as Duncan Fletcher s contract was not renewed after 2015 World Cup. Virat Kohli had a very good rapport with Shastri at that time, they have similar mindsets and are willing to take risks. More importantly Shastri allows Kohli to play the game his way.

India are touring South Africa for the first series of 2018. The first Test match will begin from January 5.
