It s quite unfortunate that India and Pakistan does not play any bilateral series against each other and because of that world cricket is missing out top notch cricket between the No.1 and No.2 Test side. One of the trending competitions has been between Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Pakistan s leggie Yasir Shah. Both have been tremendous with their performances, especially in Tests and has been breaking records after every match. Shah, who is currently playing first Test of the series against West Indies in UAE, picked his seventh five-for in Tests and in that process, he broke Ashwin s record of fastest Asian bowler to reach the landmark of 100 Test wickets.

Overall, the record of fastest to 100 Test wickets is held by George Lohmann, who achieved this feat in just 16 Tests followed by Charlie Turner, Sydney Barnes, Clarrie Grimmett and Yasir Shah in 17 Tests. Ashwin now stands at sixth position in terms of fastest to 100 Test wickets and only second Asian player to be in top 10 of this list. Ashwin is known to be very sporting cricketer and just after Shah broke his record, he responded very sportingly by congratulating him and expecting him to continue his good form.

Earlier, prior to the first Test between Pakistan and West Indies, when the stat about Shah may break Ashwin s record came into notice, the 30-year-old Indian spinner responded very sportingly by wishing good luck to his competitor by replying a Pakistani journalist Faizan Lakhani on Twitter.

Well, we can only hope for that day when both these players will face against each other in a Test match but surely that contest will be the most exciting one.
