Currently away playing County Cricket in England, Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to return to Ranji Trophy. Ashwin is eying to feature in Tamil Nadu s opening round tie of the Ranji Trophy 2017-18 season against Andhra. The match is scheduled to be played at Chepauk on October 6.

Ashwin was rested from the limited-overs leg against Sri Lanka before playing for Worcestershire. He is likely to be back in India by October 1. Ashwin was picked for the One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia as well. If not selected for the Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) as well, his return is all but set.

According to cricbuzz, a TNCA official said, “We are hopeful that he would play if he is available. He did play in the inaugural TNPL in 2016 immediately upon arriving from the West Indies tour. If he plays, then it will be a big boost for TN.”

Ashwin was last picked for Tamil Nadu in their quarter-final tie against Karnataka last season but did not play after a sports hernia injury ruled him out.

Meanwhile, playing in Worcestershire and Durham match, Ashwin struck his first County fifty last evening. His knock came to an end on 82 off 130.

So far for Worcestershire, Ashwin has taken 13 wickets including a five wicket haul against Gloucestershire.
