India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja allegedly taunted Suresh Raina about losing his captaincy to Virat Kohli in MS Dhoni’s absence, during India’s 102-run victory over the West Indies in the ongoing tri-series, wherein Jadeja and Raina were seen in an on-field altercation.

Jadeja reportedly taunted Raina after the latter dropped two catches. The incident happened after Jadeja dismissed ninth West Indies batsman Sunil Narine caught by Ishant Sharma with the fifth delivery of the 34th over.

According to the Indian Express, Jadeja told Raina: “Because you’ve lost the captaincy, you’ve also lost interest in fielding?”

After the dismissal, Jadeja was seen walking up to Raina and saying something, which the Uttar Pradesh batsman didn’t find amusing. Raina also replied and before things could get out of hand, captain Virat Kohli and Ishant intervened and told Raina to cool down.

Jadeja was apparently annoyed as Raina failed to judge a catch offered by Narine in his previous over. Jadeja may have also been unhappy that Raina didn’t attempt for a Narine catch earlier, which might have miffed his Chennai Super Kings teammate.

Raina led India on their last tour of the West Indies in 2011 when Dhoni was rested.

Dhoni’s injury that ruled him out of the ongoing tri-series saw Kohli being appointed the Indian captain for the remained of the series.

The report added that Raina and Jadeja did not carry the on-field spat and walked back to the dressing room together. They also didn’t speak about the matter in the dressing room.
