After AB d Villiers’ brutal assault that saw RCB ransack 80 runs in the last five overs, KXIP were off to flyer with Chris Gayle taking on Tim Southee, playing for injured Dale Steyn, for three fours in the first over. KL Rahul too started well with two back-to-back deliveries from Umesh Yadav but the damage in the over was limited to just nine runs.

Navdeep Saini’s first over taken for three fours – one from Gayle and two other from Rahul as KXIP reached 36 for no loss in just three overs. Umesh Yadav was then hit for a massive six off a full toss by Gayle, but Umesh got out of jail when Gayle mistimed one and was caught at long-on by De Villiers. New man in Mayank Agarwal also started on a positive note taking two fours off Southee before Rahul took 12 runs off Yuzvendra Chahal’s first over, the sixth of the innings.
