Reports reveal BCCI’s plans regarding Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma playing for India A after IPL 2025
BCCI to put Rohit and Kohli in India A after IPL 2025
Some of India’s top players are set to be a pert of the ‘India A’ squad that will play against the Lions in two four-day matches in order to prepare for the five-match Test series against England. India is going to begin their 45-day trip to England on June 20, as they aim to win their first overseas series since 2007.
“There is enough time to announce the squad, mostly ahead of the knockouts or just after those matches. You will then get a clear picture as to which players are available by then,” a source close to the development told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
All the well-known Indian cricketers are currently engaged with their respective franchises for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The knockout matches of the T20 league will be played on May 20, 21, 23 and the final will be held on May 25.
This gives plenty of time to the selectors in order to announce the India A squad, and as things are currently going, Karun Nair is a player who might get selected. Karun has been impressive in the 2024-25 domestic season, which adds to the cause.
Rohit Sharma is going to keep his leadership role for the Indian team in England, even though he has had quite moderate outings and defeats in Test series against New Zealand and Australia.
The fitness of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah will also be under constant track, as he is still on his way to recover from a back injury that he sustained during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. This back injury is the same reason why Bumrah is not available for the initial few matches of IPL 2025 for Mumbai Indians.
