Former Australian captain and commentator Richie Benaud was involved in a car accident on Wednesday. The 83-year-old’s car mounted on a nature strip and hit a wall.

He was admitted to the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney and is reported to be in a stable condition according to Sydney Morning Herald. Channel Nine has issued a statement that the Benaud suffered shoulder and chest injuries.

The statement read, “Mr Benaud, who turned 83 earlier this month, was driving home alone to Coogee mid-morning yesterday when the accident happened. Police attended and there were no charges. The car had mounted a nature strip and hit a small brick wall. Despite being in some discomfort, the former Australian cricket captain and legendary all-rounder remains in fine spirits and good humour.”
