Ever since the Rio Olympics 2016 have begun there has been a tremendous buzz around the sports fraternity. The Summer Olympics which kicked off in Rio de Janeiro on August 5 have caught the attention of the whole world, as it is one of the biggest sporting events in history. The current India Team cricketers and former cricketers have meanwhile, shown their support for the Indian contigent, participating in the Olympics. Many players and sportspersons have reached out on Twitter to root for the country, while cheering them whole heartedly. Although, India has not been assured of a gold medal until now, a massive reaction from Twitterati is expected when the first gold is promised. Tendulkar also tweeted a picture of him while posing in front of the Christ the Redeemer Statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, the host city of the Olympic Games in 2016. He was invited by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach along with other eminent global personalities.

Kohli who is currently leading Team India on the tour to West Indies for a 4-match Test series, said the country was already proud of the athletes participating. While in another tweet, Kohli said he was rooting ‘loud and proud’ for the Indian contingent.

The Rio Olympics will end on 21 August and till then the sports will continue to enthrall fans and keep them all excited, passionate.
