India s star cricketer from this year s run to the final of Under-19 World Cup, Rishabh Pant has been hitting the headlines in the current season of Ranji Trophy. Playing for Delhi, the teenaged-sensation first hit news when he hammered a triple century in only his fourth First-Class game and the second of this season playing against Maharashtra. The wicket-keeper batsman had also scored a quick fire hundred in Delhi s opening Ranji Trophy encounter against Assam, where he had hit a stroke-filled 146. The swashbuckling southpaw, who was earlier this year bought by IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils (DD) for a whopping INR 1.9 crores, has continued with his run-spree and hit the headlines once again. In the ongoing Ranji Trophy fixture against Jharkhand, he first scored 106-ball 117 in the first innings and then went on to smash the fastest hundred in India s First-Class cricket s history. Pant took only 48 balls to get to the milestone, thus surpassing the previous fastest ton (in 56 balls) by VB Chandrasekhar. Pant has hit 13 sixes and 8 fours in his 66-ball unbeaten 135 at the time of going for lunch on Day Four of the game. Due to his stupendous effort, Delhi are currently ahead in the match by 215 runs.

He had slammed the fastest fifty (18 balls) in Under-19 cricket during the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2016 in Bangladesh earlier this year. He had hit the news back then as well and it was perhaps that knock which helped him earn the IPL contract. Pant has already scored 799 runs this season and is topping the batting charts. The season has barely started and the young batsman is well placed to break the record of most runs in a season.
