Rishabh Pant has dropped a major hint that he’s in line to make his ODI debut when India and West Indies square off in the five-match series opener in Guwahati on Sunday.

The 20-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman recently made his Test debut in England and has since scored a century and two half-centuries. He made his T20I debut last last year in February.

“Always ready to give my 100 per cent on a cricket field. Cannot wait to take on the West Indies in the first ODI on Sunday! #IndiaVsWestIndies #comingup” Pant posted on his Twitter account on Friday.

Known for his big-hitting abilities, Pant has made head turns with his audacious strokeplay and gave an account of what he has to offer when he hit a six to score his first runs in Test cricket on England tour earlier this year.

If Pant does make his ODI debut on Sunday, it’s possible that he will slot in purely as a batsman with veteran MS Dhoni set to resume wicketkeeping duties. Pant has an experience of 34 List A matches and scored 838 runs at 28.89 with a century and five fifties.

After crushing West Indies in the two-Test series, India are aiming to extend their domination over the Jason Holder-led team. West Indies haven’t won an ODI series in India in over a decade and their ranking – ninth spot – is enough evidence to prove their recent struggles in one-day cricket.
