Robin Uthappa was solid in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Ravindra Jadeja came on to bowl the ninth over.

Manish Pandey was the new batsman for KKR. Mohit Sharma came on to bowl. He conceded a single off the first ball of the over to Robin Uthappa. After facing a dot ball, Manish Pandey scored a run. Uthappa hit a slower ball through covers for a couple of runs to churn the runs around. Just five runs were scored in the over.

Ishwar Pandey bowled the seventh over of the innings. Gambhir hit him for a boundary off the first and third ball of the innings. He conceded a couple in between. After going for a couple of singles off the next two balls, Pandey got his revenge on Gambhir, bowling him with the last ball of the over.

Earlier, R Ashwin came on to bowl the sixth over of the Kolkata innings. He conceded a single off the first ball to Gautam Gambhir. Robin Uthappa then swept very well to find the boundary at fine leg. Ashwin followed it up well, going for just seven runs off it.

Ben Hilfenhaus bowled his second over. He conceded a couple of runs off his first ball, but followed it up with a dot and a single. Robin Uthappa tried to slog him off the fourth ball, but only managed a single. The boundaries had dried up over the last couple of overs, as Uthappa and Gambhir did not find the fence till the last ball of the over.

Ishwar Pandey came in for the fourth over. He bowled a tight and probing line and length that saw only one run being scored off the first three balls. Only two runs were scored off the over, which restored some sanity to the proceedings.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings scored 154 for four in the 47th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). KKR had won the toss and elected to field first. Pat Cummins came into the KKR side in place of Morne Morkel, while David Hussey and Samuel Badree were replaced by Ben Hilfenhaus and Faf du Plessis. Pat Cummins justified his inclusion in the line-up with a very tight spell to end with impressive figures of 4-1-29-1 on IPL debut.
