Robin Uthappa was batting beautifully in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Mohit Sharma bowled the third over of the innings. After being hit for a boundary off the first ball, Mohit induced the edge but Suresh Raina dropped a straightforward catch at slip. Uthappa was dropped twice before reaching 30. The ball went for four to third man. Off the penultimate ball of the over, Gambhir joined the party, hitting a boundary through covers.

Ishwar Pandey came on to bowl the second over of the innings. Robin Uthappa was looking in supreme touch as he hit two boundaries off the first two balls of the over before taking a single. Gautam Gambhir shouldered arms off the first ball he faced. He did not score a run off the over as Pandey ended up conceding nine off his first over.

Ben Hilfenhaus opened the bowling for CSK, and Robin Uthappa hit a boundary off the very first ball. After getting a couple of runs off the next ball, Uthappa edged a ball to slips where he was put down by R Ashwin. Uthappa went on to hit another boundary through square leg to make it 12 runs off the first over.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings scored 154 for four in the 47th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). KKR had won the toss and elected to field first. Pat Cummins came into the KKR side in place of Morne Morkel, while David Hussey and Samuel Badree were replaced by Ben Hilfenhaus and Faf du Plessis. Pat Cummins justified his inclusion in the line-up with a very tight spell to end with impressive figures of 4-1-29-1 on IPL debut.
