Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) star and Karnataka’s batting mainstay, Robin Uthappa has received No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and is likely to shift base to Kerala in upcoming Ranji Trophy season 2017-18. Uthappa, currently on a vacation abroad, has represented Karnataka for more than 15 seasons and added experience and star-status by virtue of his presence. He has been a part of many landmark victories and also faced some crushing defeats. However, Uthappa’s bat remained silent in Ranji season 2016-17, where he amassed 328 runs in 7 innings.

According to TNN, KSCA secretary Sudhakar Rao said, “I had a long chat with Robin and he had his reasons for moving out. We tried to hold him back but could not, so we had to issue the NOC as per his request. His contribution to Karnataka cricket is immense and we wish him the best always.” The talks of Uthappa wanting to switch to another state had been hitting the headlines since the past couple of months and it took many by surprise.

Uthappa has also been a part of the national side in emphatic victories during the inaugural edition of ICC World Twenty20 (WT20) 2007 and Tri-nation series win in Australia (2008). His last appearance for Team India came in 2015 during their tour to Zimbabwe.
