Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a 4-ball duck against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday. Rohit couldn’t do much on his comeback to T20 cricket after nine months and ended up flicking a delivery from pacer Khaleel Ahmed straight into the hands of Shivam Dube.

CSK couldn’t have hoped for a better start to their IPL 2025 campaign as they sent Rohit back to the pavilion in the very first over of the match. This was the third time that Khaleel dismissed the India skipper in IPL. This was also Rohit’s 18th duck in the tournament which saw him equal the record for the most ducks in the league.

Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik were the joint holders of the unwanted record before but now they have been joined by Rohit.

Rohit was retained for Rs 16.30 crore by Mumbai ahead of the season after widespread speculation of him leaving the team. This is the second season that he is playing as a pure batter after stepping down from the franchise’s captaincy last year.

Meanwhile, CSK ended up picking 3 wickets in the powerplay against MI at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday. Khaleel also picked up the wicket of Ryan Rickelton before Ravichandran Ashwin’s homecoming became even better as he ended up getting the massive wicket of Will Jacks in the fifth over.
