India won by 4-1 against Australia in ODI series. Rohit Sharma proved why he is the limited-overs hero. He emerged as the leading run-scorer in the series with tally of 296 runs at 59.2. Rohit made the opportunity could when he scored his 14th ODI century in the fifth and final one at Nagpur. However, Rohit exclaimed how he relished the opportunity to bat alongside his Mumbai batsman Ajinkya Rahane. The duo added third consecutive 100-plus stand at Nagpur. Their 124-run stand set the tone of the game. This was the first instance of India having 100-plus opening stands in three consecutive ODIs.

Addressing the reporters, Rohit added, We have played lot of cricket in Mumbai. We talk a lot in the middle, we discuss when need to take risk and when not to. These are the little things that help build partnerships. He played really well in the series and handled the new ball well. Rohit also lauded the bench strength of India, This team certainly has good pool of reserves. Whoever has got the opportunity, has come in and performed. It shows we have got guys who can take up the challenge and perform. We missed Yuzvendra Chahal, Akshar came in and got wickets. Rahane scored consistently in the series. It goes to show the future is bright.

Rohit did not forget to give the due credit to the bowlers as well, All the bowlers who participated have gone with the mindset of taking wickets. That is what these guys have done. To restrict Australia to 242 today was not easy. Even the last game we thought they would reach 350. The bowlers have allowed our batters to play freely.

Since his thigh injury, Rohit has bounced back well since the Champions Trophy. Although he did miss the West Indies series, Rohit brought his calibre to fore in the Sri Lanka series, It is my job to score runs as an opener. The team really depends on the start that we give. It adds to success of the team. I just go out and play my game. That is what I am going to do in the future, see the opposition and plan accordingly, concluded the Mumbai boy.
